URBAN LCA - Report (ENG)

This report is a summary of our work with the Urban LCA beta tool for CO₂ and biodiversity assessment (beta version: usable and functionally complete, but may still contain errors or missing data until the final release). The report does not include all material related to the tool, but instead provides an overview of the most important components and key points. Furthermore, the appendix explains background information regarding the methodology, implemented data, and references.

The report is divided into four chapters:

  1. Summarizes the overall structure of the report and presents the key learnings and conclusions of the project.
  2. Explains the vision and purpose for different stakeholders, the tool itself, the indicators used, and which aspects of urban development are assessed. For each urban category, the key points are summarized in relation to CO₂ emissions, Material Footprint, and biofactors.
  3. The general tool is tested on a specific urban area—the development of Frederiksberg Hospital. This demonstrates the intended use of the tool: to compare different development scenarios in terms of their impact. The main results are then summarized.
  4. The final part of the report describes reflections, data gaps, and the limitations of the tool. It also identifies opportunities for future improvements, as well as the relevance for subsequent versions of the tool.
